Rowan Hendrix

I am Rowan, born in Veldhoven on July 5, 2001. At home, a lot of 70s and 90s music was always played in the car or indoors. Bands like Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, and Kiss shaped me musically in my early years. My cousin used to have a drum kit in the attic where I would often go all out. At the age of eleven, I got my own drum kit and started taking lessons from Luuk Adams. From there, I began to develop myself as a rock drummer while simultaneously learning a lot about 70s funk.

In 2017, I started at Rock City Institute Eindhoven. I learned a tremendous amount while playing in a wide range of bands such as Embrace the Waves, Vitamin B12, Sonny Ragg, Severant, and An Evening With Knives, performing in venues like Effenaar, Altstadt, Paradiso, and the 3FM studio.

Currently, I play in Max Poolman's band, touring through Belgium and playing at many cool venues in the Netherlands. I also drum in the punk band Death Sells, with exciting shows on the horizon. Additionally, I write songs and record everything in my own studio. Since 2021, I've also been teaching drums, and I love it!

The best part about drumming for me is that you have an essential role in how the band feels. You determine the tempo and the foundation of the rhythmic energy. Having that responsibility feels powerful, especially on stage. With great passion, I pass on this feeling to my students.
